What was I thinking?

While I was attending BYU in Provo, I did not have a car, so I walked everywhere which was not usually a problem. One day a couple of friends and I had walked downtown to do some shopping. While we were there it snowed. We were really cold and getting wet so we found a pay phone and started calling friends to see if we could find someone with a car who would come and get us. While we were doing this a guy came up behind us and got quite impatient because we were taking so long. We let him make his call and got talking with him while we waited for the guys who had agreed to come pick us up.

He was passing through town and needed a place to stay. We figured our friends would let him stay with them and we were right. The others rode home with our friends and I rode with this stranger. He spent the evening with us and we showed him around the campus. He was amazed at how well dressed and well behaved the students were. He said he had been on several campuses and had never seen anything like this one. He was very impressed.

That was during the time when we knew there was a killer in the area (Ted Bundy) and we'd been told to be vigilant. Over the years I've wondered what in the world I was thinking when I got in his vehicle.
