Thanks, Mom

My mom, Norma, is absolutely my hero when it comes to my love for reading, books and libraries. She made sure I always received books for Christmas. I can't remember a time when I didn't have a library card. I also can't remember a time when I did not know how to find a book if I had the call number. Mom took me to the library on a very regular basis, even in Samoa. She took me to bookstores and used bookstores. She taught to me do chores right away so there would be more time to read. For several years we had no television (in Samoa there was no television) and it wasn't really a burden because I had books. Even now I enjoy reading some of the same authors that she read. What a wonderful example, one that has affected almost every aspect of my life.
