Mom's Testimony

Mom was not one to stand up and bear her testimony in church. She was more the quiet type. If you watched her, you could figure out that her belief in the Savior and His Gospel was incredibly strong.

She always had a calling at church. Usually, it was playing the piano, but not always. She was faithful in doing her Visiting Teaching. When Wayne was a baby he got sick every time she took him to church and she didn't like missing it every week, so she arranged for a neighbor girl who was Catholic, to tend him when she got home from her church. That way Mom could attend her meetings.
Once I asked her how she felt about polygamy and she said if she was perfect enough to make it to the celestial kingdom she would understand it. One of her sisters told me that on the Sunday after their mother died, Mom got ready to go to church and her sister asked why. She reminded her that now their mother was gone they didn't have to go (Grandpa was inactive), but Mom told her she liked to go. One of Mom's siblings told me she was responsible for them growing up as active members.

One of the most difficult things Mom ever did was to accept the mission call with Dad to serve as Missionary Training Center President in Samoa. She did not like Samoa. Eric was in high school and refused to go with them. They could either turn down the call or ask Celine to move home with Eric. Celine came home and stayed there until they finished the mission. I know that mom suffered by leaving Eric.

I always knew my Mom had a testimony, I could see it.
