First Library Event
When I worked at the Library in Pocatello, one of my responsibilities was to plan and carry out programming. Usually these programs for adults, but occasionally included children. I wanted to plan something that would hopefully attract a large number of people. I was personally interested in emergency preparation and wanted to include that. The City had recently purchased a new fire engine with special logos celebrating the City's Centennial and I figured that might get some attention, so I arranged for the fire department to bring that engine. The police department had one dog at that time and I figured it would be popular and the officer agreed to bring the dog and speak at a nearby park.
The event at the park was a huge success, but very few people actually attended things at the library. I was disappointed, but I learned that just because program doesn't work, you don't give up. the next one might be very well attended.
