Beside Myself
You hear people talk about out-of-body experiences. Usually they are associated with near death or drug use. My experiences have been neither, I don't know what causes them.
I frequently walked home alone from elementary school when we lived in Midvale. It didn't bother me, it's just the way it was. Sometimes I would read as I walked, sometimes not. On more than occasion, I would suddenly find myself walking next to myself. It was as if my spirit had slipped out of my body and was walking along next to it on the right side. My spirit was never ahead or behind or over my body, just walking along next to it. No pain was ever involved. This only lasted a few seconds.
It also happened when I was praying in Sacrament Meeting. I suddenly realized I was listening to my body pray, but my spirit was standing to the right and slightly back from my body. This was slightly disconcerting because other people were around. I don't know how I get back into my body. It seems that once I realize what's happening, it ends. It's always very quick.
