Road Rally

In the fall of 1970 Lela Mae Turner, Wyla Gene Myers and I participated in two Explorer Road Rallies. The object was to test our ability to read and follow directions and to handle a car. Due to our good scores in those two road rallies, we were invited to participate in the first Utah State Invitational Road Rally in September 1971. The Road rally lasted two days and involved people, mainly boys, from all over the state. We didn't win any prizes, but we had a good time and learned what it takes to operate as a successful team.

Lela drove, I was the navigator and Wyla had the stopwatch. We had to travel at exact speeds and reach check points within certain times. It was pretty challenging.
